Our Patio Building Process
Every great patio starts with a well-considered design. This blueprint stage is where creativity meets practicality. We work with you to ensure your patio serves its intended purpose; whether that’s entertainment, relaxation, or aesthetic appeal! Then we take that design and physically mark out where your patio will live on your landscape.
Design & Layout
Excavation
Once the layout is done we excavate the designated area. This involves digging to the appropriate depth to ensure a strong foundation for your patio. Our team meticulously removes soil and debris, preparing the ground for the gravel layer that will support your patio for years to come.
To provide additional stability, we lay geotechnical fabric over the excavated area. This critical step ensures that the base material stays separate from the subsoil, providing a barrier that contributes to the longevity of your patio.

Base Material
With the fabric in place, we then add 3/4 down base material. This limestone gravel is carefully spread and then compacted using specialized equipment. The compaction process is vital as the solid foundation it creates resists any shifting and settling of the ground below.
Next, we add a layer of finer material, often 1/4 down limestone, to create a smooth and level surface for laying the pavers. This is known as the "screed" layer. It’s meticulously levelled to ensure the surface of the patio will be even and that water will drain off it properly.

Laying the Pavers
The biggest transformation of the process is laying down the pavers. We start from a corner or edge, working our way across the patio area. Each paver is placed with precision to ensure a consistent pattern and aesthetic is achieved. We are careful to properly level everything.
Most patio spaces require some cut pavers to work perfectly with your space. We measure and cut the pavers to fit the edges and around any obstacles, ensuring a snug and perfect fit that matches the initial design.

Snap Edging
To keep everything in place, we install snap edging around the perimeter of the patio. This snap edging is held in with large metal spikes that we drive into the ground. This secures the bricks in place and maintains the integrity of the edges.
The final touch is sweeping polymeric sand into the joints between the pavers. This sand hardens and locks the pavers in place while also preventing weed growth.
